Analog To Digital Imaging Essay

1547 words - 6 pages

The topic that I have chosen is about the emerging of analog to digital imaging. The project is focuses on the technology changes of photos that taken by analogue camera and the new digital still camera. The project also focuses on how digital imaging has taken place of based-film camera as personal used and business publishing. It is to be a media production. The approaches that I have taken to do the media production are; gathering information of both analogues and digital images, collect and select appropriate pictures for video shooting, develop the storyboard, video shooting stage, capture and edit footages in computer, and final stage is testing the production. It is about the comparison of analogues with digital camera. The digital camera captured images and convert to digital values into the binary numbers which are zero and one. Where as analog camera captured images electronically presented of continuous analog wave form ( There are different in capturing process, speed and imaging process. Today, the new digital still camera still having problem of delaying from the startup, the times between photos; it takes few seconds to boot up camera and before taking the photos, the delay of pressing shutter button and images actually captures, it takes time for the camera to digitise images to its storage card and it is impossible to take another photos during that processing times (couple seconds). There are also disadvantages of digital still cameras in the different type of storage cards and they are not compatible with other. The limitation of storage and sizes on these cards are difference, for example: Compact Flash's cards store of maximum of 128 mega bytes and they are larger than Smart Media cards. Smart Media cards are more cheaper but limited in storage size (32-64 mega bytes) and they also need interface adaptor for computer's connection which can cost more. Sony memory sticks are generally limited with Sony's product; the users would choose cameras with this option when they have other Sony products which use these memory sticks. There are also disadvantages of short batteries life and difficulties in using LCD screen in sunlight. However, the digital still cameras are more advantage in speed and imaging process. The images captured with digital still cameras do not to be developed because there is no film processing. The images can be review instantly on camera monitors after shooting and have a certainly that images have been taken. It can also reviews on personal computer screen or on TV screen, if there is "video output" component on the cameras. The convenience of digital cameras is that they have ability to transfer images data through the USB connection to PC at faster speeds. The conventional cameras entirely depend on film and chemical processing. With analog cameras, the images captured by film and they have to wait for at least an hour for the chemical processing. The advantages of analog cameras user is, the...

This data is then passed along a communications channel to the destination, or receiver, in the form of an analog or digital signal and mixed with other multiple pieces of data through a shared channel. In order to avoid confusion, mechanisms must be in place that can identify each source and ensure that the data sent from those sources arrive at the intended destination and not become lost

Due to the advances in photographic equipment and digital technology, the skills of a professional photographer are no longer required

1105 words - 4 pages In a very short period of time professional photographers have suddenly found a vast amount of advanced photographic equipment and new technology at their disposal.Although innovation and development in the silver halide market has been slow, digital imaging technology has been advancing rapidly. The most dramatic of the changes has been in the digital camera's ability to capture better image quality and resolution, and the technology for

Selective Imaging and Analysis Concept for Forensic Solutions

1602 words - 7 pages The selective imaging and distributed analysis concepts have been introduced in the literature to reduce the digital evidences collection and analysis costs (resources and time). Using the selective imaging concept, the investigator first has to select the relevant data items and then the selected data items are imaged according to their selection order not according to their offsets (physical position or address on the storage). The output of

The Digital Conversion in Television

3365 words - 13 pages The Digital Conversion in Television Introduction Television is now in the process of converting from analog to digital technology. The significance of this change is greater than the introduction of color TV in the 1960’s, but more complicated since conversion will require new equipment for all consumers. Unlike color TV, digital television (DTV) uses a new kind of signal that does not fit within the structure of the old signal. "DTV

628 words - 3 pages periapical pathology diagnosed or not. The inflammatory respond of the surrounding tissue makes the initial diagnosis of existing periapical pathology quite difficult, and the dental community has been debating the accuracy of dental imaging in similar conditions. Many studies have been conducted to investigate which one is more effective in diagnosis of periapical lesions the conventional or the direct digital radiograph. In the past, not many studies

Analog and Digital Comparison

1468 words - 6 pages Analog and Digital Technologies To understand the technologies of analog and digital conversions we must first understand what analog and digital transmissions are. Analog transmissions are a continuous variable in amplitude and frequency. The frequency band that they operate over defines analog circuits. People generally produce a bandwidth of 9,900Hz with frequencies in the range of 100Hz to 10,000Hz. Speech that falls between 250Hz and

Just as audio buffs hear their favorite tracks from digital CDs rather than analog vinyl LPs, home video systems today feature digital video disk (DVD) players rather than VHS tape machines. Even cell phones are going digital. In the digital realm of computers and networks, the

Digital Television Conversion

632 words - 3 pages February 17th, 2009 all over-the-air television stations are converting to a digital signal. This means televisions that are analog and only receive over-the-air broadcasts will become useless. The reason for this change is so that the analog spectrum may be freed up for broadband and other emergency systems. The internet is a very large medium that is beginning to run out of space for new users. If television stations become digital, companies

1934 words - 8 pages difference between an analog signal and a digital signal is that an analog signal runs the risk of receiving interference when it travels through the air and a digital signal does not (Petch, Chuck, and Colburn 9). Typically, the types of interference that today's analog signal experiences is crosstalk between two very similar signals and the color crunching that takes place due to clogged airways. Crosstalk is seen at home when your picture seems to
