Google is the most popular web site and searching engine today with the view of ranking number one (Top 15). Coming from a dorm room to a garage, Googleplex, which was better known as today’s Google headquarter, is located at Mountain View, California (Google Location). Larry Page and Sergey Brin found this company in 1998. Such a big searching network was developing from a challenge to a company that has a huge impact on different areas of people, from an individual person to an entire country (Google s History).
In 1995, Larry Page and Sergey Brin met at Stanford. Sergey was one of the students who were assigned to show Larry around (Google s History). These two graduate students in computer science, as a partner seems never agreed on any ideas, no matter what the topic it was. Since both of them had such a conflicting opinions, the potential inside them had already grown for leading them to the biggest challenge they had never seen before (Sergey Brin Biography). As a student who wanted to get his PhD, Hubert Chang needed to complete the work on Web search ideas; therefore, after asking a Stanford computer science professor, he met Larry and Sergey (Report by Thomas Claburn). In order to organize massive set of data, the pairs began collaboration on a search engine in January 1996 called Back Rub. Within a year, the challenge s result looks like it was more than just to help a person. Their plan had already heading far away. The pair had decided to find an investor, then they found Andy Bechtolsheim, the co-founder of Sun Microsystem. After he goes over their business plan, he knew this company had a lot of potential. In September 1998, Andy Bechtolsheim wrote a check for $100,000 to a company that has not existed, Google Inc. Unfortunately, Back Rub eventually taking up too much bandwidth in Stanford. Later on, they set up their new office in a garage (Google s History).
The name Google is a misspelling of the word “googol”. Googol means the number one followed by one hundred zeros. In 1997, Larry Page and Sergey Brin decided that the Back Rub search engine needs a new name as their start of new searching engine company.
