Without that possibility, nature would not incite us to have them,” John Updike supports. Through hard work and responsibility, dreams, unchained by reason, can become what will be tomorrow. Successful people, in fact, have been dreamers or are still dreamers.
Henry Ford’s dream was for every family in America to be able to own a car. Originally, cars had been built by hand and were very expensive. By starting with a clear plan, Ford converted his dreams into goals. By following his plan and investing his time and money, Ford made his dream a reality. His creation of the assembly line made cars available to everyone. He kept his eyes on his goal and moved forward steadily, because “Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.”
Babe Ruth’s dream was even bigger. He dreamed that he could hit a home run every time he can up to bat. He did not worry about striking out or getting a single, double, triple, or a walk. As he put it, “Never let the fear of striking out get in your way.” He aimed as high as he could and set a goal that was beyond his reach. He did not achieve his goal, but he came closer than anyone else in history. When Babe Ruth set his sights on what seemed unattainable and set a goal that was beyond his reach, he came closer than if he had not dreamed. Babe Ruth believed, "Every strike brings me closer to the next home run.”
