Today, many people around the world smoke marijuana for therapy or recreation, which is grown from nature, but in some countries, nature is illegal, except a substance which is legal: alcohol. In fact, Marijuana or Marihuana from Spanish language also can be known as cannabis, hemp, weed, and pot. Marijuana is a dry, shredded green and brown mix of leaves, flowers, stem, and seeds from the hemp plant, whose scientific name is Cannabis sativa (National Institute Drug Abuse, 2012). Marijuana has a long history of use as a medicinal herb, and the use has been expended around the world from China to India and the North Africa and leaded to Europe for thousands of years. They also have several different cultures in various ways. For example, it was recorded as medication to treat many kinds of health problems by the Chinese, and the earliest fabric and rope were believed that it has been woven from dried hemp, and around 6000 B.C., marijuana seeds were used as food in China (Canadian medicinal Marijuan, 2010). The Persian prophet Zoroaster also wrote a sacred text on “the Zend-Avesta”, which listed that marijuana was at the top from 10000 medicinal plants in 550 B.C. (Canadian, medicinal Marijuana, 2010). The marijuana has been adapted in people’ lifestyles and social environment over thousand years.
In Canada, marijuana is now the most war on drugs and users that we cannot get out of it, but the country wants people to be safe. In the worldwide, Canada is the country that has the heaviest users (Children and youth) of marijuana according to a reported by UNICEF, and World health Organization has founded on the poll of 15000 Canadians that Canadian children around 11-15 tried marijuana 12 months ago, and it is the highest rate from 29 nations, but Canadian children is the third lowest rate of tobacco smokers or drinkers. It also shows that high school students around 15-24 tried pot several months ago (K, 2013). There are also a survey of 10000 Canadians from Health Canada that alcohol consumption is able to take them to the danger of habitual or serious conditions such as liver disease, cancers, injuries and overdoses (K, 2013). If so, it causes from legal drug, alcohol. On the other hand, there are many countries that marijuana is decriminalized, legalized or liberalized such as Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Spain, Italy and Netherlands, and they have the marijuana children use are lower than in Canada. Some people who are against the marijuana legalization because they believe that marijuana can lead to health problems and social issues. However, marijuana should be legalized in Canada because there are some advantages through medicinal purposes and personal uses, economies, and societies.
