Organizational Behavior Terminology And Concepts Paper

What does it take to ensure that one's business is healthy and continuously progressing? How can a company be sure that their business is in fact on the road to success and that its employees have positive views on its culture? This paper will start to answer some of these questions as we evaluate several key concepts and terminologies on Organizational Behavior, Organizational Culture, Diversity, Communication, Business Ethics, and Change Management. This paper will also give insight as to how these key concepts and terminologies relate to my experience with my current employer xxxxx.In today's world, it is important to take into consideration many factors when managing a company. The traditional idea of hiring personnel, assigning a task, and compensating accordingly will not be sufficient in this day and age. More has to be done in order for a company to be successful, Organizational Behavior, Organizational Culture, Diversity, Communication, Business Ethics, and Change Management are some of the factors that must be taken into consideration when managing and setting a plan for the business.Organizational BehaviorOrganizational behavior is "The study of many factors that have an impact on how people and groups act, think, feel, and respond to work and organizations and how organizations respond to their environments."(George, Jones, 2005, p4) It is very important for managers in an organization to understand that a workers emotional state will show itself in the increase or decrease of productivity. Organizational behavior helps us better understand interpersonal processes, and organizational dynamics in a real world setting. Its purpose is to build better relationships by achieving human objectives, organizational objectives, and social objectives (Clark, 2000, 1). At xxxxx Management as a whole is very interested in how their employees feel and what their thoughts are when it comes to their role and the culture that surrounds them. For example, it is a common practice to send out surveys to generate feedback about the workplace. Also, an open door policy is promoted in order to improve the work place environment. This gives the employee the opportunity to share comments, thoughts, concerns and ideas, ultimately creating a pleasant working atmosphere and high moral.Organizational CultureOrganizational culture is, "The set of shared values, beliefs, and norms that influence the way employees think, and behave towards each other and towards people outside of their organization.(George, Jones, 2005, p535) At xxxxx, the organizational culture is a positive and friendly culture. Employees treated each other with mutual respect, and generally volunteer to help other co-workers both professionally and personally.
