After the event of world war and the uprising movement of industrial revolution, with the induction of Hawthorne effect in the area of psychology, industrial organization starts to develop through several major pieces of civil rights legislation. It was in the early 60’s where they started to focus attention towards fairness in the work place. Thus, only I/O trained psychologist are on demand during that era.

There are four major changes to I/O psychology. Firstly, it involves an increased usage of fairly complicated statistical technique and methods of analysis. In the 60’s, they used the method the technique that is called (MANOVA), an abbreviation for path analysis, meta-analysis, multivariate analysis of variance. However, in the 1980, another set of statistical technique that is called analysis of variance (ANOVA) and also t-test, make the assessment easier.
Secondly, it is introducing cognitive psychology to industry. There was much assessment done during the 80’s till the 90’s in which articles are published on the evaluation of employee. However most were used by managers in doing the assessment.
Thirdly, there was an increasing interest in the effect of work and family life and leisure activities. Even though stress and depression were their concern back then, it was seriously take into consideration in the twentieth century especially on stress in workplace.
Lastly, in the 80’s and 90’s is where I/O psychologists made a transformation movement in developing methods to select employees. This is a biggest leap for the psychologist as way back then, the court has the outmost right until in the mid 80’s, where the court has tune down their sovereignty and hence, brought in more instruments for psychologist in providing test such as personality test and many more in selecting employees.
