Did you know the first person that was credited for taking prayer out of school is Madeline Murray O’Hair? Mandatory prayer group is not allowed. People can pray to themselves, however. In 1960 Madeline O’Hair sued the Baltimore school system because her son was forced to pray in school. Her suit and actions of the American Atheist organization resulted.

Although it has been proven that prayer shouldn’t be allowed in public school, we should reconsider the issue because it will motivate the youth to stay on track. This paper will inform all readers that they should reconsider all these issues of banning prayer from schools. The younger youth of this world are used to being so angry and sad. The children need guidance from grownups and mentors this would really help as well as praying because this would give them a different perspective on life. Praying would give the children an optimistic look on life; they would see the good in life, and just not the bad instead of a pessimistic look on life and behavior.

`The removal of prayer from public schools was a violation of the third commandment which commands all of us not to take the name of the God in vain. By the judicial act of forbidding invocation, the Court created a secularized system of education beyond the authority, reach and blessing of God himself. Worse than taking the Lord’s name in vain is treating it with contempt, denying is rightful place, and stripping it from public use and even from the lips of children. Jesus expressed the same desire,, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not for bid them”(king James version) was also violated by these judges, many of whom were raised in Christian homes. Yet there are still people that think prayer shouldn’t be in public schools.

            A public schools is a secular institution. All kinds of religious group use them. No matter what prayer would be used, someone will be offended. It’s best not to have prayer said over the loudspeaker. If a religious group of students wants to meet on public schools grounds after school hours, I have no problem with that, we’re all taking a lot of hard things but we should keep our head up and keep pushing.
